A Flower-Filled Birthday Joy Ride

Hello Friends! My garden is bursting with colorful blooms right now and I like to think it’s because my car looked like this in May! Well, not exactly—I don’t own a convertible, but it was packed from back to front with flowers to plant. Since, I have a friend who loves flowers, this cheerful birthday card seemed like the perfect project when I was finished planting everything!

To start, I die cut and assembled the fun Joyride Car from the Penguin Party release. It’s a versatile set that I’ve used on several occasions. I chose Memory Box Cilantro cardstock for the main color to give it a fresh summer look.

For the background, I wanted to keep things simple, so the flowers would take center stage. I ink blended light blue inks onto a piece of mixed media paper and then die cut it using the largest of the beautiful Fine Eyelet Frames.

Now for the fun part—the flowers! I used blooms and foliage from the Lovely Floral Bundle, Nordic Scatter Flowers, and the Nordic Leafy Stems. Using a variety of Memory Box cardstock colors, I began arranging the flowers inside the car, layering pieces until the design felt full and balanced. I love the sturdy weight of the cardstock, which makes layering easy and fun.

To finish the card, I added one of the Open Studio Foiled Birthday tabs as my sentiment. These elegant tabs are such a simple way to add a finishing touch.

I love the cheerful summertime feel of this card. The bright flower-filled car makes it a joyful birthday card that’s sure to bring a smile to my friend. I hope my card inspires you to check out the Poppystamps Web site.
