Autumn Cheer: Pumpkins and Pickups

Hello! Have you seen the new Poppystamps Holiday Cheer release?  Autumn is a favorite season of mine, so, I’m sharing a pair of Autumn-themed cards I created using dies from this beautiful new collection.

Both cards feature the new Country Pickup and Pumpkin Patch dies. I had a general design in mind before I started, so I began by cutting lots of pumpkins and coloring them with Distress Oxide inks. For the backgrounds, I blended shades of yellow and orange with just a hint of green to capture the warmth and color of the season.

After assembling the green Country Pickup, I filled the truck bed with pumpkins, arranging them so they looked like they were overflowing out the back.

To add a little extra autumn charm, I die cut three of the Coneflowers from the Lovely Floral Bundle and tucked them in above the pumpkins. I thought this would be a perfect birthday card for a friend with an October birthday, so I finished it with an Open Studio birthday sentiment tab.

For my second card, I die cut one of my ink-blended backgrounds using the second largest Fine Eyelet Frames die. This time,I decided to create a mini-shaker card. I die cut the trunk piece five times and stacked the layers together to create dimension and space for the shaker elements. I added a piece of recycled acetate to form the shaker window. I filled it with glitter from my stash and a few mini pumpkins before adhering it to the rest of the pickup truck using double-sided tape.

I hope these cards inspire you to check out the Poppystamps Holiday Cheer release. I’ll be sharing a winter-themed card with the Country Pickup soon, so stay tuned! Until then, don’t forget to share some handmade happiness of your own and enjoy this beautiful and colorful season.

A Summer Bouquet for You

Hello! One of my favorite things about summer is gathering fresh blooms and creating bouquets to enjoy or share with friends. This time, I decided to create a summer bouquet that could be mailed to a former neighbor and dear friend.

To create this card, I started by die-cutting the beautiful coneflower from the the Lovely Floral Bundle five times. To add some shine, I used some brass-colored foil from my stash to die cut the Nordic Watering Can.

For my background, I layered the two largest Fine Eyelet Frames. I wanted to keep the design clean and simple, so I skipped any ink blending and instead paired some Memory Box Golden Wheat cardstock with plain white cardstock. I love how the soft combination lets the floral bouquet remain the star!

To finish the card, I added an Open Studio Thinking of You foil tab, which perfectly complements the sentiment behind this card.

I love the simple, fresh look of this card and think it captures the beauty of a summer bouquet. I hope it inspires you to check out these items and all the other wonderful offerings from Poppystamps. Thanks for stopping by!

A Flower-Filled Birthday Joy Ride

Hello Friends! My garden is bursting with colorful blooms right now and I like to think it’s because my car looked like this in May! Well, not exactly—I don’t own a convertible, but it was packed from back to front with flowers to plant. Since, I have a friend who loves flowers, this cheerful birthday card seemed like the perfect project when I was finished planting everything!

To start, I die cut and assembled the fun Joyride Car from the Penguin Party release. It’s a versatile set that I’ve used on several occasions. I chose Memory Box Cilantro cardstock for the main color to give it a fresh summer look.

For the background, I wanted to keep things simple, so the flowers would take center stage. I ink blended light blue inks onto a piece of mixed media paper and then die cut it using the largest of the beautiful Fine Eyelet Frames.

Now for the fun part—the flowers! I used blooms and foliage from the Lovely Floral Bundle, Nordic Scatter Flowers, and the Nordic Leafy Stems. Using a variety of Memory Box cardstock colors, I began arranging the flowers inside the car, layering pieces until the design felt full and balanced. I love the sturdy weight of the cardstock, which makes layering easy and fun.

To finish the card, I added one of the Open Studio Foiled Birthday tabs as my sentiment. These elegant tabs are such a simple way to add a finishing touch.

I love the cheerful summertime feel of this card. The bright flower-filled car makes it a joyful birthday card that’s sure to bring a smile to my friend. I hope my card inspires you to check out the Poppystamps Web site.

A Red, White and Blue Birthday!

Hello Friends! I have two cards to share —perfect for anyone who has a July birthday,  and especially meaningful this year as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary!

Since I love the new Nordic Petalglow Flower die from the Nordic Daydream release, I decided to make it the star of both cards. I find that it’s such a beautiful bloom and so easy to assemble.

For my first card, I ink blended a piece of 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” cardstock with red and blue Distress Oxide inks and then added texture with the Diamond Oval Pinpoint Background die. I die cut the Nordic Petalglow Flower from red and white glitter cardstock and blue foil cardstock, mixing and matching the pieces to create a variety of red, white, and blue blooms. I finished the card by using the new Happy Birthday Tender Script sentiment.

For my second card, I changed things up with a slimline design to space the blooms out a bit more. I ink blended red and blue on a piece of the white woodgrain paper, then lightly spattered water to add some interest. This time, I used plain red, white and blue cardstock for the flowers, keeping things less glitzy. I did add some sparkle with glitter and foil cardstock for the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a Safe & Happy 4th of July!

Fun with Simple Stories Vintage Land of the Free

Hello! I recently won a Simple Stories release--Vintage Land of the Free Collection! I'm having so much fun using all the beautiful items. There's so much, it's hard to choose what to use first.

Here's the first card I made. It's a fun fold filled with fun Simple Stories items!

It's a great way to show off fun die cuts or ephemera. The Simple Stories 12' x 12" cardstock is perfect for this fun fold because it's double sided and you are able to show off both sides of the beautiful paper. You can add as much or as little as you want inside. Cut the paper down to 5 1/2" x 12". You are able to get two cards with each sheet. Then make score lines at 4", 6", and 8". Fold like an accordion. As with any fun fold, I recommend using scrap paper to practice. This also provides you with a template you can save for future cards.

To make the card a bit more sturdy and I think it finishes things off, cut a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" cardstock and adhere it to the back panel.

I hope you are inspired to try this fun fold card. Enjoy!\
